Provides grants to no-kill animal shelters that work with community collaborations of veterinarians, rescue groups, traditional shelters and animal control agencies nation wide. Presents previously funded projects, grant guidelines, organization information.
The fund has already had over 1,000 inquiries (as of Spring 1999) about their work. Please review the guidelines carefully before submitting a grant request. Proposals must set forth an immediate, direct, and measurable strategy to increase adoptions, spay/neuter surgeries, and reduce the death of dogs and cats-- in order to guarantee every adoptable shelter dog or cat a loving, responsible home within five years. Grants will not be awarded to government-funded animal control agencies or organizations that derive a substantial portion of their funding through government contracts. Range varies, based on the number of baseline adoptions and above baseline spay/neuter surgeries that will be achieved each year of the project. As a condition of a Maddie's Fund community grant, the participating no-kill organizations are expected to raise matching funds each year of the project equal to a percentage of the grant.
